Expanding Community Health Access Through Faith and Equity

COPE’s Health Equity Collaborative is a faith-based, community-academic partnership that connects trusted clergy leaders with public health experts to improve access to care, build trust, and reduce health disparities in Black and Brown communities across the Inland Empire. Through education, outreach, and culturally grounded services like vaccinations and health screenings, we’re working to close the health equity gap and uplift those most impacted by systemic barriers to care.

Health Equity Collaborative Team

The COPE Health Equity Collaborative is a community-academic partnership with Dr. Jacinda Abdul-Mutakabbir (Assistant Professor of Clinical Pharmacy- University of California San Diego) alongside COPE member, Mrs. Laniea King (Program Manager of Health Services), focused on the promotion of equitable health within racially/ethnically minoritized communities. The collaborative utilizes innovative, community-engaged research and practices to address healthcare access limitations within the Inland Empire. More than 3,000 racially/ethnically minoritized individuals have received services the collaborative provides in concert with community faith leaders. The services provided include health education seminars and vaccinations for preventable respiratory diseases (enter rest of services). The successes of our unique partnership continue to serve as a model for health equity promotion within underserved communities locally, nationally, and internationally.

Let’s all work together to keep our California communities healthy.

The state is mobilizing at every level to proactively and aggressively protect the health and well-being of Californians, but we cannot fight this outbreak alone. We need the participation and support of every Californian. That is why we’re providing recent, relevant and reliable information. Californians need to know how critical it is to stay home, learn how to stay healthy and where they can get help.

These actions are critical and there is no doubt our collective efforts save lives.  https://covid19.ca.gov/
