Ms. Demita Burgess
Former Program Coordinator (In Memoriam)
Demita Burgess joined COPE in 2006 and served as the Program Coordinator for our Health Access program, providing Medi-Cal Enrollment support to community members through outreach and COVID-19 Vaccination Clinics. Ms. Demita also coordinated our CEP Phone Banking Team during seasonal campaigns with “California Calls” and “We Are California.”
Ms. Demita was acknowledged for her impactful work with COPE and California Calls, sharing vital information with the community and empowering them to use their voices to address inequalities. She graduated from Loma Linda University Gateway College as a Certified Community Health Worker. She was later promoted to Organizer and completed a five-year Healthcare project (SBCMORE), securing Medi-Cal for all.
