Justice Transformation Coordinator
James Damon Every Sr. is a dedicated and empathetic advocate for mental health and social justice. He has a background in ministry and substance abuse counseling. Born in Los Angeles, California, and raised in Pasadena, he has accumulated a wealth of mentorship experience throughout his life. His commitment to mentoring youth originated during childhood at the Boys and Girls Club of America in Pasadena.
James became a father at 18 and subsequently welcomed three more children. However, due to life circumstances, he faced incarceration for a significant portion of their early years. During this period, James undertook a process of personal reinvention and rehabilitation, emerging as a leader, facilitator, mentor, and advocate. His extensive training and development primarily occurred while he was incarcerated.
He holds an Associate degree in Ministry from Harvest Bible University and a certification as a Substance Abuse Counselor from the Association of Christian Alcohol & Drug Counselors Institute. Following his release, his family expanded as he blended his children with those of his wife, culminating in nine children, thirty-three grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
James is committed to empowering individuals to overcome adversity and fostering positive change within diverse communities. He possesses skills in program development, crisis intervention, and quality assurance and is devoted to promoting equity and inclusivity. Furthermore, he remains dedicated to ongoing learning and personal growth to enhance his ability to serve and support those in need.
